TNR Begins in Randolph
Feline Friendz volunteers (Sherry Haftings, Elizabeth Ham, Larry Shackman, Laura Stastny and Linda Cooper) Best Friends volunteers (Deb & Mike Shanahan) and Raccoon Valley Animal Sanctuary volunteer (Joe Pundzak) along with Mayor Trively were all on site to coordinate the setting of traps at various locations around the town. Our friends from Fox 42 news were also there updating the story.
By 7 pm trapped cats were starting to come in from the various trapping sights around Randolph. We set 36 traps with the goal of catching 30 cats for the next days surgery. By 9 pm we had 29 cats!! (Picture top of article: Sherry, Joe, and Deb matching trap numbers to vet paperwork and readying the cats for transport.)
By 9:30 the cats are on the road to Hearts United in Auburn Nebraska. Where they will receive full veterinary care including spay/neutering, vaccinations, antibiotics, wormer, etc. It is now 11:00 pm and volunteers are still hard at work unloading the cats at HUA clinic. Below - cats being checked in at HUA for next days surgery.
